A Gospel Community (GC) is one way we nurture and provoke our growth as Jesus followers. In GCs, we engage life together as disciples, considering God’s direction, and doing what He’s called us to do. If you desire to hear and obey God; if you desire to live as a disciple, then you are invited to prioritize life together in a Gospel Community. Come see the big picture and engage a GC as a member of the family of God and a citizen of His Kingdom.
How do we do it? How do we drop everything and follow? Our approach to discipleship starts by digging into community and embracing some new rhythms:
Rhythm of Story: Storytelling is a main part our culture; stories of past mistakes, current challenges, or future hopes. Whatever the story, we use them as invitations into life. When we STORY within a Gospel Community we take time to tell our story WHILE telling God's story. At the center of God’s story, we find the good news of Jesus (the Gospel), and we often find how He has invited us into His story. God has made us a part of His story through Jesus. When we “Story” around the dinner table, we are challenged to share life, practice vulnerability, and affirm His work in each other. Through Story we hope to spur each other on to love and good works while growing into the church He's called us to be.
Rhythm of Connect: Each month we set aside a week to Connect. This time is sed so we have margin in our lives to have dinner with a coworker, mow a neighbor’s yard, or watch the game with another family from church. Our goal is to be creative and faithful as we connect in some way with some one. Through Connect we hope to practice Gospel-centered living in our communities.
Rhythm of Serve: Let’s go! Gospel Communities are not only inward focused, but intentionally involved in acts of service as we reach into our world. One fundamental rhythm to the life of a disciple is the rhythm of serving others. Through Serve we hope to engage others and reflect the Gospel to those we meet along the way.
Rhythm of Party: Through the lens of the Gospel there is much to be celebrated and plenty of reasons to party. Just as story, connecting, and serving are disciplines, so is celebration. The fun stuff needs to be practiced just like everything else! We plan to party as often as possible. While there's no plan for parties, we dedicate any 5th week to the discipline of celebration. Through Party we hope to make joy a consistent part of our lives.
